The six-step database design video lecture series is designed to complement the Six-Step Relational Database Design™ book, and should be used by both lecturers and students as teaching and learning aids, respectively. There are two lectures in the series, The Six Steps and Case Studies in Six-Step Relational Database Design.
Lecture 1: The Six Steps
The first lecture, The Six Steps, teaches you how to create implementable relational database models in six steps that can be implemented on any relational database management system (RDBMS). It goes through the six steps outlined in the book detailing each step using a case study to reinforce the methodology.
This lecture is recommended for persons wanting to learn the details of each step in the six-step relational database design process. The technique taught will describe everything you need to do, from start to finish, that allows you to create an accurate data model that you can use for your application to implement your database on any RDBMS.
You can download each step individually or all of the steps as a bundle.
Lecture 2: Case Studies
The second lecture, Case Studies in Six-Step Relational Database Design, goes through the six steps using the three case studies used in the book without the details or explanations of the steps. It summarizes and demonstrates the six-step process using case studies.
This lecture is recommended for persons familiar with relational database design who want a synopsis of the six-step relational database design process. While it does delve into the details of the six-step relational database design technique, you will learn, from examples, how this technique can be used to create a sturdy, reliable, and accurate relational database model.
You can download each case study individually or all of the case studies as a bundle.
