Background

I was born and raised in Guyana, South America, where I received my primary and secondary education, but I have spent most of my adult life outside of Guyana. I love traveling, meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, and the outdoors - oceans, rivers, lakes, forests and national parks.

I currently live and work in the British Virgin Islands and spend most of my recreation time sailing (not in the traditional sense) around the islands that make up the British Virgin Islands.

Professional Experience

I left school at the age of 18 after completing my Advance Level Examinations and I have held three full time jobs:

  •  Lecturer at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, British Virgin Island for more than 11 years, from January 2002 to now.
  •  Systems Analyst/Engineer at the Ministry of Finance, Guyana for almost six years, from September 1995 to May 2001.
  •  CSR/Teller at the National Bank of Industry and Commerce, Guyana (Republic Bank) for one year from August 1991 to August 1992.

I love programming and deigning and developing database applications and websites. I have worked on numerous programming, database and web design projects spanning the almost 20 years since I graduated. Some of businesses that I have consulted and created applications and websites for are no longer in operation and some of them still use my applications:

  •  StudenTrack - A student tracking and evaluation database for primary schools.
  •  Freducal - A freight and duty calculator and database for a mailbox operator in the BVI.
  •  Logicart - A logistics and cargo tracking database for freight forwarding companies.
  •  alvinchristopher.com - A website for a politician that ran for, and won, political office in the BVI.
  •  loblollycottages.com - A website promoting vacation cottages in Anegada in the BVI.

Education

I have two honors degrees, including a Masters, and internationally recognized certifications in database development and administration:

  •  CMDEV (July 2008)
  •  CMDBA (June 2008)
  •  MS (Hon) (March 2006)
  •  BEng. (Hon) (June 1995)

Other Stuff

I have visited numerous islands in the Caribbean experiencing the richness, diversity and warmth of West Indian Culture. It's hard to say which is my favorite island because each island has it's own beauty and peculiarity. However, in my opinion, the British Virgin Islands is the best for sailing and diving, St. Maarten the best for duty free shopping and gambling, and Trinidad and Guyana the best for partying. Here is a list of where I have been:
