Six-Step Database Design Video Lectures
The six-step database design video lecture series is designed to complement the Six-Step Relational Database Design™ book, and should be used by both lecturers and students as teaching and learning aids, respectively. The series is divided into the following lectures:
- Lecture 1: The Six Steps
- Lecture 2: Case Studies in Six-Step Relational Database Design
- Lecture 3: Implementing the Derived Designs
Lecture 1: The Six Steps
The first lecture, The Six Steps, teaches you how to create implementable relational database models in six steps. It goes through the six steps outlined in the book detailing each step using a case study to reinforce the methodology.
This lecture is recommended for persons wanting to learn the details of each step in the six-step relational database design process.
You can download each step individually or all of the steps as a bundle.
Lecture 2: Case Studies in Six-Step Relational Database Design
The second lecture, Case Studies in Six-Step Relational Database Design, goes through the six steps using the three case studies used in the book without the details or explanations of the steps. It summarizes and demonstrates the six-step process using case studies.
This lecture is recommended for persons familiar with relational database design who want a synopsis of the six-step relational database design process.
You can download each case study individually or all of the case studies as a bundle.
Lecture 3: Implementing the Derived Designs
The third lecture, Implementing the Derived Designs, discusses the considerations that should be taken into account when implementing relational database models, such as those derived using the six-step process, on a relational database management system (RDBMS).
This lecture is recommended for persons interested in seeing the seamless flow from design to implementation and how the designs derived using the six-step process are implemented. It is expected that this lecture will have sub-lectures with more complicated case studies as time goes on.
You can download each implementation concept individually or all as a bundle (not yet available).
You can preview all of the video lectures below before you purchase them, and in some instances watch the entire video. You can also watch these previews and videos directly on my YouTube channel .
Videos of lectures that I have given to my students teaching the six-step relational database design technique are available for you to watch here without leaving this site or you can watch them on YouTube .
The downloadable files for the videos are in the .mov and .mp4 format and you are free to use them for your own personal use or as part of classroom teaching and learning activities. The videos are NOT to be shared or distributed in any format or on any medium whatsoever. Instructors, please direct your students to this site if they would like to have their own copies of the videos.
